Visitors venturing inland from the more well-known resorts on the coast are often heard to say "I didn't know this was such a nice town, I wish I'd discovered it before"!
The thing is, the town of Halesworth has something for everyone: Shops/ Museums & Trails/ Art Centre & Galleries/ Walking & Wildlife/ Ancient Buildings & Architecture. Even something special for railway buffs!
It's easily reached by road, rail or bus and is a natural hub, sitting about 8 miles from each of the charming market towns of Beccles (on the Broads), Bungay and Southwold on the Suffolk Heritage Coast. So the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding villages and countryside we call the Blyth Valley.
The town has an ancient Market Charter (800 years recently celebrated) and has attracted 'Best Small Town' Awards and other commendations.
It has the largest Millennium Green in the country - a wonderful walking and wildlife-in-the-town resource.
Its' strong Arts scene is led by The Cut Arts Centre and the local Gallery located in beautiful medieval almshouses.
The centre is pedestrianised so shopping along the Thoroughfare with its many independent stores and cafes - which spill over into the high street in clement weather - is a pleasure.
